I believe that we will win. This infectious chant was the rally cry for fans of the U.S. Men’s National Team as our lads brought national pride to the international stage of the World Cup 2014 in Brazil. Long before the tournament started, ESPN had secured the broadcast rights, which sparked the need to build a fresh site and mobile experience that would be home to all things World Cup. This user experience had to have the ability to live on as a global site dedicated to soccer fans, long after the tournament wrapped.

ESPN didn’t initially choose us for their design needs. The ESPN team was concerned with the small size of the Rally crew and not being able to handle the workload. As luck had it, the larger agency dropped the ball. ESPN circled back to us inquiring if we were still interested in redesigning one of the most visited websites on earth… in less than six months. Rally was able to pick up the slack, delivering the designs with less than half the time burned. Our team worked with the Bristol team to design and code espnfc.com, both desktop and mobile versions, and assisted with integrating the front-end code into their legacy publishing platforms.

After exploring a variety of potential options for ESPN FC including Gotham, Benton Sans was chosen for its flexibility and editorial feel.
