The team at Toyota Connected reached out to us to help concept ideas for their display at the Toyota North America Experience Center. TC was looking for a way to visualize the large amounts of vehicle data that they have at the Experience Center. We thought this would be a perfect opportunity to leverage our GlobeKit tool to highlight vehicles coming online in major cities across the country, while still showing higher level data points on the dashboard. The original plan was to make the experience a looping video for the Experience Center but we wanted to design the interface in a way that allowed for it to be interacted with on the web. We were able to highlight all vehicles across the Toyota and Lexus North American fleet and pull up key data points about the vehicles.
The second concept we explored was a feed of active Toyota vehicles in major cities, highlighting their status including harsh braking, excessive speed, g-force, and the moment when a vehicle comes online. The vehicles on the map would transition to the color of the current action and would remain blue if there was no action. This feed would help showcase areas that have traffic congestion, accidents, as well as open roads.
Toyota Connected started their web refresh while we were working with them and shifted to GT America Expanded Bold by Grilli Type. We chose to stick with GT America Expanded Bold for our display typeface and paired it with Maison Neue Mono to keep it consistent with their new site.
